Mossimo Grey Herringbone Dress $29.99.

This is my absolute favorite dress from Target this season. It's an A-line sheath in a herringbone grey. The fabric feels like a lot of quality for the price. It has a bit o' stretch so the fit is forgiving, even if you're on the curvy side. It's conservative yet comfortable--perfect for those times when you want to look very polished and professional (like at a wine tasting) yet need room to move (like when you're dragging your wine into the tasting!).

You can wear with kitten heel pumps (I love grey as a change of pace from basic black; red would be fun, too) and bare legs until the weather gets cold, then move into winter with the boots below and opaque black stockings. I love scarves and would add either a black or dove gray one, preferably something with some textural interest, like a nubby fabric or sassy tassles.  This dress really is a blank canvas so have fun adding the accessories you personally love and top with a trench coat to pull the look together.

I would even consider adding a lightweight fitted white cotton blouse underneath and wear this more like a jumper or add a jacket cinched at the waist with a wide belt.

Merona Black Boot "Kallista" $39.99

Merona Black Boot "Karletta" $34.99

I'm really kind of into Target's boot collection for the fall. Some of the uppers are manmade, like these riding boots and these dressier ones. But you won't have to worry about them in the snow and rain. And the value/style ration is unbeatable. You could pair either of these styles with the dress above, depending on whether you want to go more casual and urban, or chic and sophisticated. I find these boots surprisingly comfortable as well--even the ones with the spiky heels. The fit is just very balanced and easy.

I think these separates are great for work. Yes, they look a little plain hanging on the hanger, but think of the things you could do to jazz them up. Scarves, vintage style jewelry, a belted cardigan, some colorful tights and boots...I just like the fall colors and the skirt is more of a camel than khaki--vea little more upscale for the office. The cut of the skirt is nice, too. It's not quite a pencil skirt but more fitted than some.Very easy to wear.

Merona Work Tote $29.99

I'm constantly searching for the perfect work tote--something that works for my laptop and file folders but still is fashionable.  On my last trip, I lost my folder with all my travel receipts and that was my fgot to get organized wake-up call.  Throwing your laptop and work papers into a big designer handbag just doesn't cut it.  Luckily, I found a Merona tote that's fashionable and functional.  It even comes with a sleeve for your laptop.  If this doesn't work, nothing will!

Well, that's my working girl wardrobe-on-a-budget report.  Tune in next month for more of what I found when I went shopping at Target.
