Bocce Party Napa Valley Style

Summertime is time for outdoor activities and one of our faves is bocce. Bocce is the Italian ball sport which takes skill, strategy and a little luck. But what we love most about Bocce is that you can play it and enjoy some food, wine and socializing at the same time! Which means there's plenty of time to be sipping Kate & Cassie wines!

The object of Bocce is simple--land your ball (which resembles a small bowling ball) closest to a tiny ball (called the pollino). Bocce is played on a long, narrow court. There are three 20pt games; two teams consisting of four players on each side of the court--the winner is best out of three.

Where we live in wine country, many of the wineries and towns have public bocce courts. Check with your local Parks and Rec Department to see if there's a court in your neighborhood. We picked up this cool bocce set at Target and decided to look for a few other things so we could throw a bocce party at a moment's notice

With bocce, the spread on the picnic table is as important as the action on the court. We like to set a pretty table no matter where it is, and we love it the Target has a great selection of outdoor table ware. No need to create more waste with disposables--you can use these again and again. And we love the "faux" wine glasses--they have a shape like a quality wine glass but they're made of polycarbonate.

Another cool item to set the perfect picnic table are these utensil holders. We like to roll paper napkins and put them in one of the slots so they don't blow away.
